Grain Assistant Merchandiser / Logistics Coordinator – Central Kansas

What you will be doing:

• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with freight companies to secure reliable transportation services.
• Assisting in creating freight schedules and booking shipments, ensuring timely deliveries.
• Negotiating freight rates and handling any freight-related issues promptly.
• Supporting location managers with tasks including scale ticket issues, grain quality concerns, and outbound logistics.
• Managing grain accounting tasks such as contracts, tickets, and settlements with precision and accuracy.
• Working directly with producers on grain pricing, contract creation, and proof of yield documentation.
• Processing grain settlements from commercial grain companies and freight invoices from contracted carriers.
• Collaborating with administrative staff to perform accounts payable duties as required.
• Cross training with the Grain Division Manager to gain a deeper understanding of the grain merchandising process.
• Performing additional tasks as needed within the grain accounting system to support various stakeholders.

A successful candidate for this Grain Assistant Merchandiser / Logistics Coordinator role will possess the following:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with AgTrax grain software (preferred, but not required).
• A background in agriculture and some exposure to grain operations.
• Strong communication skills for engaging with internal teams, producers, and freight companies.
• A willingness to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges.

Compensation: Salary: $75,000–$85,000, commensurate with experience.
