General Manager - Plant Production Nebraska

The General Manager is a key leadership position responsible for the comprehensive management of our manufacturing process, from procuring raw materials to delivering finished products. This role is critical to our company's success as a leading provider of alfalfa-forage products in the Midwestern USA. The primary objectives are to ensure operational excellence, strategic growth, and sustained profitability by overseeing production, quality control, logistics, and customer relationships. The General Manager will play a pivotal role in aligning company activities with long-term objectives, complying with regulations, optimizing financial performance, and fostering a high-performing team while maintaining a focus on quality and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations Management

  • Oversee all aspects of the manufacturing process from sourcing raw materials to product delivery.
  • Ensure production efficiency, quality control, and cost-effectiveness in manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with quality assurance programs and processes to guarantee consistent production of high-quality products.
  • Manage permits, inspections, and certifications necessary for the company’s operations.
  • Manage and oversee the H2A worker program for seasonal business activities.
  • Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and competitiveness.
  • Oversee scheduling and coordination of equipment maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
  • Assess and mitigate risks associated with production, supply chain disruptions, market fluctuations, and other potential changes. Develop contingency plans to address unforeseen issues.

Financial Management

  • Manage the company's financial performance, including budgeting, cost control, revenue generation, and profitability.
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate, complete, and timely financial reports.
  • Monitor monthly budget variances and take corrective actions to align with financial goals.
  • Conduct detailed cost analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and areas for efficiency improvement.
  • Implement cost control measures to optimize resource allocation.
  • Use financial insight to make informed decisions.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities and make recommendations to the board.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax filings and compliance with tax laws.
  • Coordinate financial audits and reviews with the parent company and external auditors, addressing any findings or recommendations and implementing necessary improvements.

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement a business strategy aligned with the company's long-term goals and objectives.
  • Identify growth opportunities, market trends, and potential risks to maintain and enhance the company’s market position.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Build and lead a high-performing team, including recruitment, training, motivation, and performance evaluation.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
  • Strategically manage and right-size the organization structure to align with the fluctuating people resourcing demands of a seasonal business.

Merchandising Management

  • Develop and execute a merchandising plan aligned with the company’s overall business strategy.
  • Determine pricing strategies, product positioning, and sales channels to maximize revenue and market share.
  • Ensure favorable terms and pricing agreements with suppliers and customers.
  • Manage inventory levels to ensure product availability while minimizing carrying costs and waste.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to identify objectives to increase product visibility, attract new customers, and achieve revenue goals.
  • Monitor the performance of initiatives and individuals against key performance indicators and adjust as needed to drive sales growth.

Reporting & Communication

  • Provide regular updates to company stakeholders, including the board of directors.
  • Maintain transparent and effective communication channels within the organization.
  • Develop, document, and regularly review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all aspects of the company’s operations.
  • Oversee the identification and strategic implementation of technology solutions to enhance communication and reporting.

Compensation: Compensation will range from $150-200K depending on experience and familiarity with operations.
