Fertilizer Procurement & Operations Manager
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with an interest in crop nutrients marketing and procurement to join the team of a highly successful fertilizer marketing organization. In this role you will be responsible for managing customer relations and their purchase activities to maximize their return by providing timely market analysis and intelligence to assist their decision-making process. You will be integral in procurement department operations, assisting the Vice President of Procurement in exploring and developing new procurement strategies, supply lines/channels, and price volatility risk management tools/options. In addition, you will assist the Vice President of Procurement as needed in managing the departmental operating budget and assist in new member recruitment.

What you will be doing:
- Procure fertilizer products to meet the needs of your retail agronomy customers
- Manage contract allocations with vendors and communicate with impacted members
- Coordinate with vendors on logistics via, rail, barge and truck
- Consistently provide customers with top market intelligence, pricing information, and supply outlook information
- Manage and oversee procurement department new and existing orders
- Assist the leadership team in exploring and developing new product and partnership strategies
- Assist VP of Procurement as needed in managing the departmental operating budget
- Assist the organization in customer development
- Participate in customer events, client meetings, and industry conferences
A successful candidate will possess the following:
- Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Computer skills required: Internet Software; Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Minimum of 2-3 years of purchasing, sales, and or marketing experience in the crop nutrient industry
- Knowledge of retail agronomy operations and structure a plus
- Knowledge/experience of commodity logistics or supply chain
- Ability to use Microsoft office applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Team-oriented, organized, ability to prioritize tasks
Compensation: The compensation for this role will be a combination of base salary and incentives, with starting base salary based on experience.
Benefits: This package also includes an incentive structure, health benefits that cover 80% of family premium for health, vision, and dental, paid time off, and a 401k.
Desired Location: Des Moines, Iowa. This is a hybrid role that is 3 days in the office, and 2 days from home/remote. The office days are based in the Des Moines area.
