Assistant Farm Manager and Agronomist

Ag 1 Source is looking for an Assistant Farm Manager and Agronomist for one of Idaho's premier farms along the Snake River. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced agronomist to help execute an overall crop plan for mint, wine grapes, cover crops, onions, alfalfa seed, corn, and wheat.

What you will be doing:

• Work closely with owner and farm manager to execute overall crop plan and complete day-to-day tasks associated with crop production and management
• Responsible for managing the planting, production, and harvest of onions and alfalfa seed with the potential to work on seed crop production
• Manage field operations including irrigation scheduling, along with the application of chemical and fertilizer, and pest management
• Coordinate with owner and farm manager on labor management
• Work with farm management on suggestions for new improvements and practices to support a more efficient operation

A successful candidate for this Assistant Farm Manager and Agronomist Role will possess the following:

• Experience developing annual agronomy plans with solid knowledge of agronomic practices that deal with improving crop outcomes including irrigation systems (drip irrigation, pivots, etc.), soil health, weed and pest control, and fertility management
• Familiarity with all farm equipment including harvesters, trucks, and farm implements and the ability to perform repairs and maintenance
• Ability to work with multiple employees to execute crop plan and daily operational tasks
• Ability to physically work in an industrial/farming environment with extended hours during peak seasons
• Regularly attend educational seminars and meetings and works well with vendors, suppliers, and other parties that interact with the farm
• Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of experience successfully managing row crops on a small-medium sized farm including direct experience growing alfalfa seed, onions and seed crops
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record
• Office skills including managing crop records and certifications
• Strong work ethic, organizational skills, and honest character

Compensation: Compensation will depend upon experience but the company is targeting a range of $75,000 - $85,000 with the potential for profit sharing
